Simon Burstall (b. 1975, Darwin, Australia) is a New York–based photographer whose work explores youth, identity, and the emotional texture of lived experience. Raised in Sydney, he began photographing his friends surfing at age 15, later studying photography in art school, where his thesis documented Australia’s early ’90s rave scene.

In 2000, Burstall moved to New York and assisted leading photographers including David Sims, Steven Klein, and Herb Ritts. His commercial and editorial work has appeared in V Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, and campaigns for Gap and Lancôme.

Simon’s recent work, including '93: Punching The Light (Damiani Books, 2019), reflects a return to his roots—blending documentary photography with personal narrative to explore culture, youth, and the complexity of human connection. He continues to photograph daily and is currently at work on several new and exciting projects.
